Ismael Loinaz

Psychologist (Ph.D.) and Criminologist (B.A.), currently a Ramón y Cajal researcher at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Specialized in intimate partner violence, forensic psychology, and violence risk assessment. Author of over 30 scientific articles, book chapters, and manuals on criminological and forensic topics, including batterer typologies, female offenders, sexual violence, and child-to-parent violence risk. In 2017, published Manual de evaluación del riesgo de violencia (Ed. Pirámide), the first handbook on this topic in Spanish. Collaborates with various police forces in developing and adapting violence risk assessment tools for intimate partner violence and currently leads a project funded by the Basque Government to update the gender and domestic violence risk assessment system in the Basque Country. Awarded the Mariano Yela Award by the Spanish Society of Forensic Psychology (SEPJF) in 2014, where he currently serves as a board member. Lecturer in multiple master’s programs in Forensic and Criminal Psychology in Spain and Latin America.
